5 Common Behavior Problems in Preschoolers

When your child is growing up there are several behavioral and development changes. If you have a toddler, who is all set to attend his/her preschool, it is good to know that preschoolers are often prone to developing behaviors. A toddler’s behavior during preschool can be extreme, while naughtiness and occasional misbehavior are parts of growing up, there are certain disorders that need to be taken note of and carefully managed.

Here is a list of the top five behavior disorders in toddlers:

Lying
Preschoolers tend to make up stories based on their imagination or something they wish to happen. But over time, this consistent practice of making up stories turns into the habit of lying as they grow up and it is here that you have to make them understand. As a parent, you can also teach him/her a small lesson by taking away a favorite toy etc. to help him/her stay away from lying.

Temper tantrums
Preschoolers often think that if they keep whining about something, they will get it. But you must not give in to your child’s temper and whining no matter how much you love them. Make him/her understand that a “no” means a “no” and that whatever you are saying will ultimately benefit him/her.

Baby talk
Similar to whining, baby talk is engaged in by toddlers who are apprehensive of a transition, like from kindergarten to preschool. As a parent, you should not scold your little one, but instead, set limits so that the temporary behavior does not turn into a long-term habit.

Aggression
Your child’s aggression or tendency to hit and hurt others arises from his/her inability to solve conflicts within themselves. Discipline your child and make him understand that hitting is only harmful to both him and his friends. Teach him to calm down and realize that hitting will do them no good.

Defiance
Children often say no because they feel that saying no will have no negative consequences for them. As a parent, you should teach your kid to follow certain rules.
Pre-school is a temporary phase and if you take good care of them, it will pass away enabling your child to be disciplined.
