5 DIY Charcoal Masks You Can Prepare at Home
Charcoal as an ingredient in facemasks has been gaining popularity off late. Throughout the day, the pores in your face get clogged with many toxins around you. Charcoal peel off mask without glue
This is an easy mask that you can stir up in a jiffy without the hassle of buying any special glue from the store. This is a gentle option as compared to glue as it keeps the chemicals at bay. The smoothness of the skin is the proof of the pudding.
Ingredients:
- Gelatin 1 pouch
- Water 1/8th of a cup
- Charcoal powder
- Essential oil
Method:
Mix gelatin and water and pop it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Once done cool the mixture and add the charcoal powder to the mix and a few drop of the essential oil of your choice. Stir the mixture well and apply to the face with an applicator. Keep on the pack for 15-20 minutes till it dries and then peels off.
Charcoal and clay face mask with glitter
Throw the subtlety out of the window and just grab the glitter to make this beautiful glitter mask that glows while it works. Apart from having major detoxifying capacities, this mask also helps in reducing pores, regenerating tissue, gently exfoliating, reducing the appearance of scars and clearing up your complexion.
Ingredients:
- Bentonite clay
- Baking soda
- Activated charcoal
- Water/oil
- Essential oil (lavender, etc)
- Glitter
Method:
In a bowl add 1-teaspoon bentonite clay, 1-teaspoon baking soda, 2-3 pills of charcoal powder and mix together. Add glitter to the mix and essential oil and stir again. Add water or oil to the mix and the pack is ready to become a pasty consistency. Apply on face and leave on for about 10 minutes and then wash off. As the base, water is recommended for oily and combination skin and the oil base is great for dry skin.

Charcoal mask for acne
This is a mask specifically for acne prone and sensitive skin and this would help to clear the dirt off the face and fight the acne and its scars really well. The use of witch hazel helps make the mask acidic and hence is good for soothing the acne. The leucidal helps in preserving the mask for a longer time to reuse.
Ingredients:
- 3 Tbsp. Bentonite clay
- 1 tsp. Activated charcoal
- 3 Tbsp. Witch hazel
- 20 drops tea tree essential oil
- 3 g Leucidal
Method:
Mix together the bentonite clay and the activated charcoal and add the clay mixture to the liquid mixture of witch hazel, leucidal and essential oil to allow the clay to absorb the liquid slowly. Once pasty apply all over your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes.
Activated charcoal and honey mask
Activated charcoal is the main ingredient in this mask and honey gives the add-on advantage of brightening. This mask not only clears the skin of the face but is also effective in using for the underarm, elbows and knees or wherever there is dark skin.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 TBSP Activated Charcoal (or 2 capsules)
- 1 TSP Honey
- 1/4 TSP Rosewater
Method:
Combine all the ingredients together and apply on your face with an applicator brush. Leave on skin for 15-20 minutes and then rinse off with lukewarm water and pat your face gently with a clean towel.

Detox charcoal face mask
A detoxify mask is the perfect recipe to clear the skin of dirt particles that stick profusely to the skin and cause irritation, redness, discoloration and acne. All these problems are fought with the magic of the combination of charcoal, clay and apple cider vinegar.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 tablespoon bentonite clay
- 1/2 teaspoon activated charcoal powder 2 capsules
- 1 1/2 – 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Method:
Add the clay and charcoal to a small glass bowl and stir the mixture together. Add apple cider vinegar until your desired consistency is reached. Using a face brush, apply the mask for about 20-30 minutes. Once the mask is fully dry, splash some warm water on the face to loosen the mask and gently wipe it off.
