Kidney Disease
Kidney disease, or chronic kidney failure (CKD), is a disease that results in damaged kidneys that do not filter blood properly. Those with diabetes or high blood pressure are at a higher risk of developing this disease. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, changes in urination habits, muscle cramps, and more. Healthy, functioning kidneys filter waste and excess fluids from the blood which are then removed from the body through urination, and kidney disease causes a build-up of waste in the body that can result in serious complications. For example, anemia, heart disease, decreased immune response, pericarditis, and hyperkalemia.
